BP is a common gut microorganism in Taiwanese population. The abundance of BP was significantly lower our cohort of colon cancer patients compared with general population. Patients with colon surgery indicated that the loss of BP was persistent after 12 month of observation.
Therefore, we apply a diet-mediated BP using SFP mice and BP along oral gavage using a colon cancer model. Our results indicated that colonization of BP can suppress tumor formation in this mouse model. Further investigation suggested that BP can suppress colon inflammation and tumor cell proliferation.
