Abstract:

Nowadays the fluorescent labeling method is widely used in microarrays. However, the labeling technique increases the cost and preparation time of samples. We proposed a label-free biochip utilizing Fano resonance in double-layer metallic nanostructures. The labeling or modification of biomolecules is not need for the chips. Such structures have higher detection sensitivities. They can be easily and massively fabricated and have cost advantage.

 

Fields of Application:

The double-layer metallic nanostructures are made on transparent substrates such as glasses and plastic films. They can be applied to disease, environmental chemical and other pathogen detection with specific binding events.

 

Advantages when compared to the existing technologies:

Compared to prism-based surface plasmon resonance sensors, the double-layer metallic nanostructures benefit from having a small detection volume and simple optical measuring system. They provide a feasible way to achieve chip-based, high-throughput and label-free detection. In addition, the chips can be easily and massively fabricated and have cost advantage .
